SATURDAY TOURS
Our hosts will offer three options for Saturday 16 November 2024.
- The first option is a half-day city tour of some of the main sights of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s large, cosmopolitan and vibrant capital city which will allow delegates with early departures to finish the tour at midday to commence their journey home.
The other options are two full day tours:
- A countryside and natural wildlife tour featuring gauchos and live polo
Outside of the city (in the Estancia Puesto Viejo). Experience an unforgettable escape from the bustling city at Puesto Viejo a picturesque estancia and polo club nestled in the tranquil town of Cañuelas where the vast beauty of the Argentine Pampas begins. Just an hour from Buenos Aires, this hidden gem boasts sprawling grounds, lush woodlands, manicured polo fields, and even a yew tree labyrinth. On this tour, you'll be immersed in the rich history of the estate with a guided exploration of the charming old house. Witness the excitement of live polo matches, marvel at the skills of the local gauchos in a traditional demonstration, and soak in the natural beauty of the Argentine countryside and its wildlife. - A full city tour of Buenos Aires including the main sights of the city such as Teatro Colon, Plaza de Mayo, Museo Nacional de Belles Artes and the area of Corrientes. There will be opportunities to wander around the old, colourful colonial streets and antique markets in San Telmo, Palermo and La Boca and to sample the delicious local cuisine.
Please note that all Saturday tours will be offered with guidance in English and Spanish, and the full day tours will also include lunch.
More details will be provided very soon, but you can already reserve and pay for a place on a tour during the registration process. ICMIF will take a fee of USD 38 for each of the tours to ensure a confirmed place.
ACCOMPANYING PERSONS' PROGRAMME
Please note that the cost of USD 315 for the accompanying persons’ programme includes attendance at the Welcome Reception on Tuesday 12 November 2024, the Gala dinner on Friday 15 November 2024 and a full day tour of the local area on Thursday 14 November 2024. This tour will enable accompanying persons to discover the beautiful area of El Tigre, a delightful town located in the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires, 30 km from the city itself, built on the banks of the Parana Delta, one of the largest deltas in the world.
The region is made up of thousands of islands, canals and rivers and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is very popular with tourists who come to explore the islands and canals by boat and taste the seafood such as shrimp and crab. It is nicknamed the "Green Venice of Buenos Aires" because it is a green city dotted with canals, where most travel is by boat (or zodiac, jet ski, kayak, etc) around houses built on stilts.
Please note that the tour will be offered with English and Spanish guidance and includes lunch.
